Short version: the app collects nothing. The website counts visits without cookies, and keeps your email address only if you sign up for update emails.
The app
Notestaking connects to the internet only for updates: shortly after it starts and once a day, it asks notestaking.com whether there's a new version. Like any web request, that includes your IP address, but none of your notes and no account or device ID. It has no accounts, analytics, crash reporting or ads.
Your notes and settings are stored only on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/com.notestaking.app. Links you click in a note open in your default browser.
The website
If you sign up for update emails, we keep your email address to tell you about new versions and send occasional news about Notestaking. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
If you pay on Buy Me a Coffee, Buy Me a Coffee and its payment providers handle the payment under their own privacy policies. We see your name, email and any message you leave there.
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies or local storage and doesn't fingerprint visitors. It tells us which pages are read, where visitors came from, and their country, browser and device type, as totals.
notestaking.com sets no cookies. If you pick a light or dark theme, your browser remembers the choice in its local storage, and it never leaves your browser.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you by emailing hello@notestaking.com.
